Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Pat Cummins acknowledged the challenging batting conditions after his team suffered an 82-run defeat against Gujarat Titans (GT) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Cummins credited GT’s bowlers for delivering an impressive T20 performance.
Despite the heavy loss, the SRH captain backed his batting unit, highlighting their overall strong form this season and noting that the team’s five to six wins have provided some breathing space in the tournament.
“It looked like a pretty tough wicket. That was a great T20 bowling effort from them (GT). Our batting has been fantastic throughout the season. The batsmen have scored more than 400 runs collectively in recent games. Winning five or six matches gives us some breathing room,” Cummins said after the match.
SRH collapsed dramatically during the chase after restricting GT to 168/5. They were bundled out for just 86 runs in 14.5 overs, as GT’s pace attack tore through the batting lineup.
With this victory, Gujarat Titans climbed to the top of the points table with 16 points, while SRH slipped to third with 14 points.
SRH’s total of 86 was the second-lowest all-out score against GT, after Lucknow Super Giants’ 82 in Pune in 2022. The 82-run margin of victory marked GT’s biggest win by runs in IPL history, surpassing their earlier 77-run victory over Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur this season. It was also SRH’s lowest all-out total in the IPL, and the first time since 2024 that they failed to chase a sub-200 target.
