Al-Nassr failed to secure an early Saudi Pro League title after a dramatic late own goal from their goalkeeper. The match against rivals Al-Hilal ended in a 1-1 draw.
The game, part of the 32nd round, saw Mohamed Simakan put Al-Nassr ahead in the 37th minute. The team held the lead until the 97th minute, but in the eighth minute of added time, goalkeeper Bento mishandled the ball and scored into his own net.
Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo started the match but was substituted in the 83rd minute without making a direct impact on the scoreline. A victory would have secured Al-Nassr’s championship with matches to spare.
Despite the setback, Al-Nassr remain top of the table with 83 points after 33 games, five points ahead of Al-Hilal (78), who have a game in hand. Al-Nassr last won the league title in 2019.
