Real Madrid confirmed on Monday that one of their key players has successfully undergone a surgical procedure. The club issued an official statement on their website, stating: “Our player Ferland Mendy underwent a successful surgery today, supervised by the club’s medical services, due to an injury to the rectus femoris muscle in his right leg.”
The statement added: “Ferland Mendy will begin his recovery process in the coming days.”
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the French defender is expected to be sidelined for a period of four to five months following the operation.

The surgery was performed in Lyon by French specialist Dr. Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet, with the presence of Real Madrid’s medical team, who monitored the procedure and the medical protocol coordinated with Mendy.

The left-back sustained the injury during a La Liga match against Espanyol. Initial medical examinations at the time confirmed that his season was effectively over, as he had already missed significant stretches due to recurrent muscle problems.

Once the diagnosis was confirmed, Mendy began evaluating treatment options and consulting specialists before deciding that surgery was the only viable path to full recovery.
