Analysts preview the decisive second-leg matches of the Copa do Brasil’s fifth round.
The 2026 Copa do Brasil will determine its round-of-16 participants starting Tuesday. The second-leg fixtures of the fifth phase run through Thursday, with 16 teams advancing in the competition.
Three matches are scheduled for Tuesday: Internacional vs. Athletic-MG, Fluminense vs. Operário-PR, and Cruzeiro vs. Goiás. Seven more clashes take place on Wednesday, followed by six on Thursday.
In the fifth round, teams face each other in two-legged ties (the previous rounds were single matches). The pairings and order were determined by a draw. If the aggregate score is level, the spot in the round of 16 will be decided by penalties.
All 20 Série A clubs entered the Copa do Brasil at this stage: Athletico, Atlético-MG, Bahia, Botafogo, Bragantino, Chapecoense, Corinthians, Coritiba, Cruzeiro, Flamengo, Fluminense, Grêmio, Internacional, Mirassol, Palmeiras, Remo, Santos, São Paulo, Vasco, and Vitória. They joined the 12 qualifiers from the fourth round: Athletic-MG, Atlético-GO, Barra-SC, Ceará, Confiança, CRB, Fortaleza, Goiás, Jacuipense, Juventude, Operário-PR, and Paysandu.
