Arsenal has confirmed that defender Laia Codina will depart the club when her contract expires at the end of the season.
The news was shared via an official club announcement on Monday morning.
The 26-year-old Spanish center-back joined Arsenal from Barcelona in the summer of 2023. During her time with the Gunners, Codina made 58 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals. She also lifted the UEFA Women’s Champions League, FIFA Women’s Champions Cup, and the Subway Women’s League Cup while in North London.
With her current deal set to expire next month, the club and player have mutually decided that Codina will take on a fresh challenge for the 2026/2027 season.
This departure follows last week’s confirmation that young goalkeeper Naomi Williams will also be leaving Arsenal this summer. Williams joined the club’s academy at age 13 and later progressed to the senior squad, where she primarily served as backup. She is now expected to seek regular first-team football at a professional level elsewhere.
Codina’s final home match as an Arsenal player will take place on Wednesday, when the Gunners host Everton at the Emirates Stadium.
